CTE Teachers Honored at ACTE Region V Conference

A group of Utah CTE educators attended the ACTE Region V conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming over spring break. Denise Abbott (Timpview) and Diane Cluff (Provo High) were selected as ACTE Region V award winners. ACTE Region V is made up of 17 western states. Denise was honored as the CTE Teacher in Community Service and Diane was honored as the Outstanding CTE Teacher.

Denise and Diane had previously been honored in February 2012 at the UACTE Conference held at Jordan High School for winning these awards selected from all the Utah CTE teachers. Their award portfolios were then forwarded to the ACTE Region V selection committee. Denise and Diane's award portfolios will now continue on to the national level where they will interview and compete for the national award in Atlanta, Georgia in November 2012.

It is a tremendous honor to be selected for these awards. Provo District has a wonderful reputation for strong CTE programs and it is again validated by having two teachers in the finals for national recognition. ACTE has five regions across the nation. Region V is the largest geographic region in ACTE (Association for Career and Technical Education). Denise and Diane will compete against the top teachers from the other four regions for these awards. We wish them the best to these fabulous ladies in their competition and are proud to have them represent Provo School District, Utah and Region V. Provo School District teachers are the best!
