Welcome to the Special Education Department. Here you will find Special Education related services. Parent Resources

Numerous local resources are available to Provo parents with children that have special needs. These agencies and organizations provide services and information to support parents and families. They are listed alphabetically:

Child Find Statement:

Provo School District offers a comprehensive program of special education services designed to provide a learning environment that helps a child progress in his/her individualized educational program.

A child maybe eligible for these services if they have noticeable delays in: vision, speech, Hearing, behavior, appropriate age level development, or physical impairments and learning difficulties. Any child age birth to 22 is eligible for special education services. When it comes to education, it is important that your child is being taught in a way that meets his/her individual needs.

If you are aware of a child who may have a disability, that affects their learning to such a degree that it may require special education services, please contact your local school principal or the Provo Special Education Department at (801) 374-4883.

Carson Smith Scholarship Program

The Carson Smith Special Needs Scholarship provides tuition assistance for special education students enrolled in eligible private schools. Prospective applicants must have an identified disability and is in need of specialized instruction through Special Education. The student must be at least five years of age before September 1 in order to apply for the scholarship. The amount of the Special Needs Scholarship awarded to an eligible student depends on the level of special education services the student would receive if enrolled in a public school. The Special Needs Scholarship program is funded annually by appropriations through the Utah Legislature. Scholarships are not guaranteed and are subject to the availability of funds.
