Lakeview Elemantary Construction Details

A photo depicting the Lakeview Lions logo

The new Lakeview Elementary School is the latest “crown jewel” among the district’s west side building facilities. Located just west of Geneva Road in the northwest corner of the city, the school features a beautiful, contemporary architectural design, characterized by arched entryways and utilizing the latest in materials and construction technologies. The new building will have an initial capacity of 800 students, but is being built to accommodate anticipated future growth in the Lakeview area.

Construction of the school is now complete, and was occupied by office staff in April 2008 to answer phone calls, register students for the 2008-09 school year, and to schedule public tours. Furniture for classrooms and other areas will arrive in June, and the building will be open for students this fall, in August 2008. This magnificent new school represents a wise and appropriate use of public funds by the district, following well-designed strategies for planning and construction. The cost of building Lakeview represents the least expensive (per square foot) construction expenditure of any elementary school in the state of Utah.

A Technology Tour de Force

Together with the new Timpanogos Elementary, Lakeview will feature the most advanced instructional technologies available and will be the premier technology-capable school in the state! Interactive whiteboards (rather than outdated chalkboards or marker-based whiteboards) will be installed and utilized in many classrooms, facilitating consistent teacher-student interaction and enhanced student participation. All First and Second Grade classrooms will be equipped with classroom amplification systems, which greatly promote consistent hearing and understanding of the teacher’s verbal instructions. More details on these powerful technologies and their benefits can be obtained at www.audioenhancement.com and at www.prometheanworld.com/us/.

Like all other schools in Provo City School District, Lakeview will be equipped with IP telephony or VOIP, for the latest in telephone service technology. Dedicated computers in every classroom, projectors with television capability and three mobile labs with laptop computers, will be available to enable teachers to maximize the integration of technology in the learning curriculum. Advanced networking and server systems, wireless access points in each classroom, and the latest cabling and conduit systems are also part of the school’s technology package, and will provide integration with the district’s state-of-the-art Local Area Network. A final touch is the scrolling digital marquee in front of the school to inform parents of important school events.
