School Construction and Maintenance Projects
Wasatch Construction Details
One of the landmark schools on the city’s east side, Wasatch Elementary is now 58 years old, and like other structures of its era, was becoming less energy-efficient with time. Large, double-paned, low-E (low energy) windows have replaced the old original windows, and several outside doors were replaced with new aluminum-framed units. Virtually every wing and wall surface of the school received this upgrade treatment. The new windows are slightly larger than the originals, providing additional light, and are surrounded in some areas by textured panels that give a blended, smooth transition with the original brick surfaces. For summer 2008, the front of the school around the flag pole area bordering 900 East will be refurbished and landscaped.
