Provo Council PTA
The Provo Council PTA must renew its bylaws this year. Members of the Council PTA, including all PTA presidents in our Council, will be asked to approve them at our next meeting on November 20, 2007. The link to the bylaws can be found under "related links" to the right.
Voucher Legislation Overturned
Our thanks to all who worked tirelessly to defeat the Voucher Referendum on election day. The vote was almost 2 to 1 across the state - a resounding statement by Utahns that we support public schools. The claims by the voucher proponents that the anti-voucher campaign was instigated by union greed is preposterous. The petition drive that placed the issue on the ballot was a PTA initiative - parents across the state, standing by the teachers and the school of their children. We felt that we did all we could to educate the public about the issue without grandstanding. Many who attended the debate that our Council organized couldn't decide which "side" sponsored the event. That is as it should be. We trust our members and our neighbors to recognize the needs of the community when the truth of an issue is presented. Thank you all for supporting us when we asked for help in activities regarding this election. Particular thanks go out to Lisa Shepherd, our Legislative Vice President, for keeping us informed and organizing the debate on November 1st.
